Anyone know if it is too late to volunteer for a severance package? My org is supposed to be impacted on Tuesday 9/6? Having 2nd thought about staying with this company, and considering talking with management on Monday. Or are the lists set in stone?

Word to the wise: Volunteering is fraught with risk.
Depending on your VP, they may take that as a signal that you are an unmotivated worker and separate you for "cause" without a severance package.
Same principle as having to resign if you win the lottery. If you don't need the job, they would (often) prefer to part ways.

the current severance policy has another reason to receive it- a major change in job duties. so if you get more work after the reorg you can ask to be severed. search “severance” on TNation and read those docs and faqs.
Not true. But what is true Is that some teams worked on their list much later than others. Also, some orgs didn't go far enough to meet the guidance they were already given and had to work more to cut deeper than they wanted.
Initial List may have been done in july, but the savings weren't there when they ran the numbers, so they've added people as late as last week. Good luck, everyone!

I heard that they ran the numbers, and didn't save enough, so were adding folks to the list as of last Wednesday/Thursday, which makes sense, because that's how we operate.
The lists were completed in July.
Since it is definitely way too late, it can be risky to raise this with your manager now. Instead, you can keep it on the down-low and work on an opportunity to exit on good terms later. That obviously means no severance, but you're not getting it at this late stage of you're not selected anyway.
When was there ever an ask for any volunteers?
I think the list was locked in at least 3 weeks ago...
We were told it was too late under Ulf's org. But you should always ask IMO.
