Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Ulf and Saw in Sweden this past week

Ulf Ewaldsson and John Saw were in Sweden this week meeting with Ericsson executives. Both are traveling back this weekend to handle layoffs in their orgs.

There will be a new agreement to outsource jobs to Ericsson. Mike lied about future layoffs. Orgs under Ulf and Saw will be gutted early next year.

You have been WARN’d

Did you think any of us thought there wouldn't be layoffs out of Ulf/Saw's orgs next week? Have you read any of the other threads on here?

They are actually doing what sprint did and outsourcing the work to Ericsson. There will be layoffs. No one’s trying to scare anyone. Just stating what’s next.

Right out if the legacy sprint playback. E/// carries costs for a bit and makes books look great. Cheers! Good to see jobs getting screwed for his old cronies.

You do know that t mobile has Core network and radio gear from both Nokia [Finland] and Ericsson [Sweden]. They went to talk to both because, if they are reducing the operational support funded by T-Mobile, they would modify the existing contracts with Nokia and Ericsson to manage their gear. You wouldn't want a Nokia person touching anything from Ericsson and vice-versa. Those 2 companies absolutely hate each other.

Network leaders make the trip to the Nordics every year to meet with Ericsson and Nokia

Doubtful. It's normal for the President and CTO of Technology to meet with executives from a major OEM. It's unlikely that we'd outsource field operations like Sprint did, which is a constant rumor. For many, this kind of change would be the last straw, if they haven't already gotten there, prompting an exodus of senior leaders.

There’s always change in technology and telecommunications that will affect this business. Unfortunately many have not experienced the telecom roller coaster. Some will be back and others will end up with another telecom or telecom partner. Just keep your head up and know that your experience can take you higher. Just don’t let this situation bring you down. You will find the right path with the right attitude. Unfortunately I am still one of those waiting to find out. I wish all of you well and better opportunities.
