Thread regarding Disney layoffs

Given the financial performance...

...massive layoffs are almost certain. I wish I was wrong, but all is pointing to this. Good luck all and Godspeed.

Disney has always been a layoff factory. Of course, there will be layoffs in the future. It's like being surprised that Oracle or IBM laid people off. It's the nature of this business.

What I’m reading here is that Disney has been a layoff factory even when they’ve been able to keep the lights on, but right now they aren’t even generating enough revenue to make payroll. So what does that say for the long term prospects of the company?

@3axg+1ooVF2Fv: Yes, Parks have gone downhill already! From many joyless cast members (no magic) to even the guests, much like Six Flags...started when policies changes. Parks are not as fresh, and clean, as they use to be pre-Covid, ETC. Just bad all the round. Wonder how much longer the Parks can help Disney overall? So shortly, I would predict more lay-offs expected at the the Parks, too... Sad, very sad.

@4zza+1ooVF2Fv you're better off. disney, just like ibm in the early 2000s, is headed for bankruptcy. and like ibm, they'll never return to being an industry leader again. and that's only if they're lucky enough to exist at all after 2024/2025. sad but true.

Regardless of whether he’ll be able to fix the mess he’s made, the 2020- era of Disney (and media in general) should serve as a case study of spectacular missteps for decades to come.

I know for a fact that there are YouTubers that are watching the mistakes being made by all the Hollywood studios and doing the opposite to steal their viewers.

I was one of the layoffs earlier this year and now I’m seeing much of the decision making more objectively. IMO, Iger is like Will Farrell’s aging character in Old School where he drunkenly goes streaking believing all the college kids would be joining him. Iger went streaking and, like Will Farrell, most of the customers did not follow - least of all the young ones.

Stock will dip below 80 soon. And we have to buy Hulu which will probably be in the 15 billion dollar range. Whacking jobs will only go so far. In addition to more layoffs there will be massive debt and sell offs of properties. Don't expect any improvements in the parks so soon they will be just like Six Flags. This is the darkest time I can remember
