Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Peace vs. Impact

Did they want peace...or for their decision to matter and have an impact. No one makes that decision, in that way, without wanting attention to it.

A lone call for help, if perhaps to save others, from a fastly sinking ship.

Say his name. Invoke anger. Lay shame to those that allowed this to happen. On. their. watch.

Share with everyone. Keep sharing until change (not promises), happen. Members should call in and ask about it, ask who'll be held responsible...keep calling...keep asking.

Or ....sure, keep it hush-hush because that's respect for the family? No.

Silence only benefits the company. Misdeeds thrive in darkness.
The Family IS suffering...but its not their fault.

Know that often "leaders" blame the victim, saying cr-p like "It happens" and "Don't blame yourself, they were clearly unstable"...yeah, well martyrs often are.

If you are personally struggling, please, please seek help. You are valued and needed.

Respectfully to you and to our teammate, he is a victim, but please don’t glorify su----e as martyrdom. We’re not championing the act, we are just recognizing the toxic environment that likely played a large role in his decision and he was trying to make a statement (for those claiming he had other things in his life, why would he choose do it at USAA after hours?)

It was not the right way to make the statement, a much better example is the whistleblower last year. That’s not to blame or shame the individual for taking their life, just recognize it’s an act of desperation, not martyrdom that was the only path to get your messages heard. After all, the note has been suppressed from the public.

Just be careful, people reading this forum could get the wrong idea about how to save the company.

It’s interesting that you said martyr. I had a similar thought. The timing of a Saturday morning with such an eerily specific location doesn’t strike me, personally, as a coincidence. I don’t know how else to say this, but 6 stories isn’t very high. Having these very specific intentions, it seems like a taller location would be chosen, unless they were sending a message. If I knew his name, I would want us to say it. He was one of us. Teammates aren’t anonymous. (Or shouldn’t be, IMO.)

As someone recently fired when struggling with my own mental health issues, I agree! This company creates the stress and then leaves you out in the cold. Targeting, retaliation and all gaslighting is all real here.

Interesting to see the reddit scrubbed... probably too many mentions of this site. I hope that continues.

Anyone else feel like it is weird that the national media hasn’t caught wind of this? Are they trying to keep it local?

We cannot allow nets around tall buildings to become normalized. Replying here and will be calling tomorrow to ask what will be done, immediately, to hold leadership accountable.

They'll try to bury this one, for sure. I liked all and am replying, to keep this active. Only public attention and pressure will bring change.

Ask your non-usaa friends to post on social, so no retribution...send to AZ, FL etc. Share a link to this site, to the article, etc.

No walk out needed, but I heard just 10sec longer, per call, across the floor... would have a huge, compounding impact. Hope nobody shares that.

It's really sad that an employee throwing himself off the top deck of the garage to hit the driveway below is what will finally start the snowball effect to get the sleepy Board to wake up and finally get Wayne to pack it up and go.

This is a permanent stain on USAA history.

Even if the Express doesn't write one more word about it, it's not like the thousands of employees are ever going to forget it.

Agree. There is a reason he chose to do this at USAA and he left a note explaining that reason. He didn’t want privacy.
