Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Hiring Freeze Over?

HR is telling me "soon" for a decision on a position. Does this mean the freeze is over for the quarter?

@cfzx+1om76MRA Low IQ comment right here. NYC and its metro while they do rank as one of the highest COL metros in the country on average salaries are also ranked as one of the highest in the country. Tampa however is ranked 16 in COL but the salaries rank as one of the lowest in cities over 100k people.

Tampa is expensive? How about New York? People in Tampa make peanuts compared to us urbanite pavement dwellers in the Big Apple. They need to start cutting at 388 Greenwich, and cutting deep

There is a freeze and more layoffs to come. They are sending jobs to Budapest. I guess Tampa is very expensive now

"decision on a position"

Your recruiter would love nothing more than to give you the offer and get the position filled. Someone in HR or in the hiring manager's management is holding it up because they won't do the simple task of replying "approve", and THEY DONT CARE that the recruiter has to look like the holdup, or that you are waiting. If the recruiter followed up they would not even reply, and would take another couple of days to respond, just out of spite. Recruiters are regarded as the lowest form of life, especially by their own HR counterparts.

Like all things Citi, its whether you're IN OR OUT crowd. If you're IN your req req will get approved posted assigned a recruiter that isn't an id--t who will review resumes and move fast. If you're OUT you wont even get a requisition approved. Totally a stacked system created to make you feel like a serf

"Decision on a position"....

I am a candidate who finished interviewing back in July. I was told additional approvals were needed to proceed. I was told that I was the candidate but he couldn't send an offer yet. The recruiter stated as of last week a decision would be coming "soon". I assumed there was a freeze in place and this position would be onboarded for a Q4 start. But I'm starting to think "soon" means 4 weeks after I start new position somewhere else than Citi. Clear?

My division doesn't have a hiring freeze IT for related areas. Anything outside of IT is frozen. There is a financial freeze on travel and other expenses until sometime next year. It's all pretty concerning as a newer employee. I often wonder if the last ones hired, first ones fired will come around my way.

Your post is not clear. "Decision on a position"....what does that mean.

Are you a hiring manager wanting to add to your team?

Are you a candidate who interviewed and you want to know if they are going to hire you or decline you?

Be more specific

I heard that the freeze is still on and any essential replacements have to be hired at one C level below current... So the company trying to get more for less.

They are probably still vetting candidates and looking for better options. Pay vs experience. If they find none better, you’re in. If they do, you’re not.

My division still has a freeze. I think it will be lifted next year, but I think some areas are still hiring. Also, it depends on title, too.
