Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Toxicity Hindsight

Saturday’s su----e just further illustrates how such a toxic daily environment affects people who are at the end of their rope. For that employee to feel like there was no hope outside of USAA, just drives home what a mentally crazy environment USAA perpetrates on its employees every day. They make you believe that USAA is the best place to work and that leaving there to go somewhere else would be a huge mistake creating more misery. Please don’t drink that Kool-Aid… USAA is far from the be-all end-all of employers. As a matter of fact, they are probably sitting at #1 as the absolute worst employer to be working for. God bless that man who took his life and God bless his family. I wish nothing but peace for them and shame on USAA for driving a man to the point of su----e. The board and Wayne Peacock, and all of Wayne’s cronies need to all be fired immediately. This man’s blood is squarely on their hands.

I realized it was a completely hopeless and toxic environment a year ago. Thankfully. I was in a position where I could walk away and just quit. Many don’t have those options. It hasn’t been with out hardship. But best thing I’ve ever done. Prayers for this employee and the family. Prayers for those that bought into USAA and the false promises.

And something bears repeating:

USAA is in damage control mode.

But just a minute...

He was one of "us". He is "us" in this moment in history, in time.

He is one aspect of "our" story. And, forever, part of USAA's history.

I demand the full story.

My heart goes out to this person’s family. Very sad story. Can we try and not make it about us? No one knows what drove this individual to do this

Words not matching actions is called manipulation. And refusing to be held accountable for it is called gaslighting.

This sad story is not over yet. There are plenty of unanswered questions.

I was fired for what basically was my managers incompetence back in May and was lucky enough to land a new role. Hearing the news of this sad event and all of the other bad news coming out of this place is no suprise and I wish all of my former and future cohorts who happen to end up in this awful company well. Take care of yourselfs and each other because management even at the lower rungs will not whatsoever. And remember no matter what situation USAA is not the end all be all of your life. You were not born to work at USAA or any other corporation for that matter.
