Yes, I am seeing a lot of retirements and no re-filling of the retiree's position.
I also see more work since the work load for those unfilled positions is being shifted onto the remaining employees.
It becomes a case of needing to do more-work-for-less pay.
But technical jobs nationwide are becoming scarce as other companies start to cut back on hiring.
Over the last couple of weeks I have heard:
- potential significant post-Q3 results layoffs
- Wendell wants no more layoffs this year
- small targeted reductions depending on business results through Q3
- small reductions accomplished through moves / retirements / attrition rather than layoffs.
Definitely seeing high attrition in MTE & S&T, along with a strong 'just having a job isn't good enough' mentality.
Yes....it is very quiet & peaceful over here in fiber-land. Our boss usually lets us know in advance if there are any murmurs among the big-wigs of further cuts. My contacts in MTE tell me all is quiet....empty positions are not being filled... but no further cuts are being made.
Any news heard? Seems so far so peaceful
Layoffs have been happening non-stop since last fall (in other words, employment peaked >66k a year ago) and we're approaching 20% reductions rapidly. I look at the org charts weekly and the numbers keep dropping.
Of course they still gave upper people massive bonuses (LTI) which are literally more per person than average employee.
What is driving this? the earning looks OK from Q2 report, are business closing projects?
I heard the same thing, something is coming... Not confirmed but talked to a director, it was between the lines. Cannot share more...
Not hearing any specific groups but did hear more rounds expected first week of September.
Any particular directorates?
