When's the last time you received a pay raise?

it took me 10 years to raise my pay 10K
I remember when "Hair Gel Guy" was asked on an all hands call about why we hadn't had merit increases, his answer was that if we hadn't received a pay increase that we needed to look in the mirror, ask our managers the questions, and be "mentally prepared" for their answers. --Basically blaming the employees for not working hard enough to earn a merit increase.
It was truly one of the worst responses to an employee question that I have ever heard. Anywhere, anytime.

7 years ago was my last merit increase. Although I did get a bump in pay about 2 years ago when I received a promotion. I would say that's about the only way you're going to get an increase. But as you probably know or could assume our internal HR processes are royally screwed up, jobs languishing for hundreds of days without any traction. Managers who won't give internally qualified applicants a curiosity call and are afraid to hire due to too many layers of stupidity above them. Good luck internally. Or maybe you do have some real leaders who have gone to bat for you and your team and some raises were handed out. I know a small team that recently got a one time 5% bump.
My younger self said many years ago that I'd never stand for not getting my annual pittance when i had a much lower salary. Nowadays, as an old fa-t who does thankfully make a pretty decent wage and who likes likes my STI, but is way too close to retirement, and is seeing age discrimination rear its ugly head, there's not much I can do but I'm still trying to look out for my own career.
My advice, a) leave this sh>t show of a company and go to a growing company who cares about you, isn't on the verge of collapse, and that will reward you with challenging work, good salary, yearly increases and bonuses. b) if you're seeking a job here, RUN! RUN AWAY FAST! It's not worth the risk to your career.
Ha! For management NEVER! If you go to Inside Link and view past videos. The January meet with Kate. There was a question about raises and she said they are definitely looking into that and spewed out more garbage. Everyone there applauded but September is about to start and nothing 9 months later. Plus, after management gets their raises, if any, do you think they will get one again next year? Highly doubt it. Because an annual raise means less money for Kate to leave with.

I was offered a role here, but seeing all this, I turned it down. Had 3 interviews and flown in for the last one. Thank you for the insight!
