Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Top heavy company

T-Mobile has so many layers of management. C-level people, along with executive vice presidents, senior vice presidents, vice presidents, senior directors and directors. If they are worried about their finances and duplicate work, they should start laying off these people, especially the c-level and EVP. They would rather layoff thousands of people instead of laying off people in their club.

Queue up the next person after the below comment with “The SLT doesn’t understand how the work gets done. They’re clueless about how the company operates.”

We have way too many EVPs/Presidents. They don’t function like EVPs at well-run companies. They are still executors for the most part. We have Directors doing IC-level work. It’s Sievert’s fault, for the most part. He’s fostered an awful executive culture.

And what on earth is a "Chief of Staff" that so many leaders have? Is that the person who deals with the direct reports so the leader doesn't have to?

I don't recall people have those before the merger with Sprint, but am not 100% sure.

The SLT "reductions" were "retirements" of people who had significant golden parachutes in place, who stayed on waiting for their 3 year mandatory requirement to vest in "stay for 3 years" shares.

I believe there will be more "retirements" in the coming weeks. I really wish they would stop acting like 90% of the employees know these are not voluntary retirements ffs.

I'll believe TMO (and Sievert per his email) is serious about thinning management when they make substantial cuts in the "Director+" club. For example, immediately eliminate all SVP's and all Senior Directors.

The SLT is kind of crazy to create president of x-x and then chief x-x officer..
