Unemployment Texas

After the 2 months is up and having received severance pay does anyone know if you can receive unemployment benefits in Texas?

In Florida, you have to wait until your severance period is over; that is, after 60 days + severance package. PTO, bonus, RSU does not count in this calculation.

In Kansas, they will make you wait until your 26 weeks are over, because of the severance package. Didn’t used to be that way until last few years.

Yes, I applied the day after I got my severance check and received unemployment until I found a job, there is no waiting period, other than the norm that the TWC puts on you.

You have to wait until the severance period payout is over. So say you get a 6 month severance(26 weeks), you have to wait 6 months to apply for unemployment in TX.

Or you could go to the employment office at the state and get them to tell you rather than some numbskull on this forum.

As long as your not termed for something stupid (stealing, as--ulting someone) and simply laid off you should be able to.

If they’re still paying out severance in a lump sum as they did when it was offered to me in 2020, I believe that you are eligible for unemployment immediately after receiving that check.
