Thread regarding USAA layoffs

I've changed my perspective

I'm done with USAA. I'll be gone as soon as I find something new, not a day later. I don't even plan to give a two weeks notice. But I'm no longer focusing primarily on pay in my search. I'm now looking for good work/balance, WFH options, and good culture. If all that comes with lower pay, so be it.

If they do finally straighten out, even a bit, they will hire contractors/new employees who have the relevant experience.

Employees who have stayed and not gotten relevant wor will continue to be undervalued, unappreciated, and eventually tossed aside.

Always look out for your career!

I have been in IT for quite some time, and the #1 thing I can state with certainty is that it is up to the individual to seek out the best situation for their circumstance.

Always passively look for the best opportunity. Do not languish in a job that is not growing your career. Definitely dump a company that is taking advantage of you, at the very first opportunity as a matter of fact.

If, as some have posted, you are not getting the work you expect and deserve, dump the company ASAP. They will dump you, and are probably planning to do so once they take advantage of you by long hours, monotonous work that is not relevant elsewhere, and managment by lunatics. And if you think you will get a fair shake with a package, you are dreaming. They will conspire to make you life a living H-E-double hockey stick!

Remember, all that $ they save by overworking you goes into the peacock's mansion!

Also, constantly train yourself. Right before I dumped USAA, I realized that I was doing useless work that wouldn't get me an interview elsewhere. Make a realistic assessment of your situation, consider yourself and your loved ones who depend on you, and make it happen!

Well written, I did the same thing. Sc--w the stress and always working like crazy and trying to keep up. Always telling management that we needed more help in the area and always being ignored. Who needs that type of cr-p. I found a better job with less stress and I get to spend plenty of time with my family.

It depends upon your department if they will make you work the 2 weeks.

Yes, tell them you’re working for another big bank. Doesn’t matter which one. They’ll make your exit date two weeks out, but your last day will be whatever day you tell them. Might as well get one extra check out of them for putting you through the misery.

Give a notice period, but tell them that you are going to a competitor.
If you are going to a competitor then you will not be allowed to work for your notice period.
