Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Get lost with no severance

Reposting a comment from "Friendly neighborhood EMG" (#allegedly)

"Soon to come, a mandate for all remote employees to move to an office by January or get lost, no severance. You heard it here first."

I can see this happen in some areas but not all, for example most of Audit is remote. Maybe they will implement a pilot version of this in a department where it would work better. Or they are floating this as a rumor to get more attrition going?

So far this directive has only been for EMG and above. It could happen to all employees at some point but not yet.

You have to admit...a significant amount of supposed "conjecture" on this site from EMGs has come true. This seems at least plausible. Our EC has made a 180 swing on their posture on remote and RTO so far. This is just another step down the same path.

I really doubt they will 100% drop remote. But, nothing would surprise me as Whittlecock/Exe are likely looking for any way to save $$$ and this would be a shady way to accomplish

Hmmm, I could see if you’re at a certain level or above, like a lead or something but I’m not sure about giving these consequences to everyone.

Their offices aren’t in terrible places, but with the amount of people they’ve laid off even in those areas would worry me about relocating. I always thought you’d be safer in SAT but I don’t think that’s the case necessarily.

Bank Compliance is like 75% remote. It was at least earlier this year. I remember someone asking the VP about it. He was concerned about losing teammates. The VP didn’t seem to care.

What happened to the fleet of telepresence robots that were parked at Starbucks. Are they shoved in a closet to pretend we never glorified how great we were at Remote work.
