Rehire

Thinking about applying back to oracle after leaving a year ago. What are the chances of getting rehired?

This post is clearly bait for a trolling exercise ... unless of course you intend to do nothing but draw a paycheck remote from home. You could create a chatGPT 4 chatbot to answer your emails.

It’s possible, especially if you have a decent performance record. I’m on my third round of working for Oracle. Best way to increase your comp with Oracle is to leave for a bit and come back.

If you were fired / laid off you will 100% not be able to join your former team / group. That being said even if you try to join a new team / group they will ask if you were fired / laid off from Oracle. So that means even if they like you, they submit your paperwork to HR for approval and HR will likely say no, find someone else.

Oracle is not worth going back to.

Rehire with Oracle at your own peril.

Only being able to return once after leaving was an old policy that was changed a couple of years ago if I remember correctly. I've seen many people return as a rehire. Mostly because they didn't want to leave in the first place, but after many years of no pay increases, it wasn't financially possible to keep working there. Many people returned on much higher salaries then they would have been making if they stayed and received a decent salary increase.
If you do think to rejoin, negotiate the highest salary possible, because that will be your fixed salary until you quit and rejoin again.

They’ll take you back, this is actually in many cases the only way to get your salary corrected and in line with the current decade if you have been there a long time.
But you have to question why would you want to go back to work for a company that has a policy like that?

I was interviewed by HR a few weeks back for a position after leaving in late 2021. You can definitely be rehired and there is nothing wrong with it. As someone mentioned the old policy of leaving once, I am not sure that is on paper. I cant imagine it is. Oracle is a HUGE company with lots of little companies inside of it. Even though some of us had bad or horrible experiences on one side, doesn't mean we wouldn't enjoy it in another area. I realize for myself, I came on board with an org that was just too close to each other and stopped upward mobility and real personal growth. I would say they were barriers. Also you can't just keep giving the same people the work while others are proficient. It's basically discrimination. But those things are about the people, not the company as a whole.

I’m not sure if this is still enforced, but the old corporate policy was that you could only return once. If you quit a second time (or leave for any other reason), that’s it. Two strikes and you’re out.
