Thread regarding Capital One layoffs

Capital One Layoff Strategy

Those of you who are confused by the layoffs have to understood it’s happening via several methods & stages that Capital One disguises as non-layoffs.

  1. Redeployment (Q1 2023)
  2. Redeployment (Q2 2023)
  3. Mid Year (PIP, Coaching Plan, Redeployment) (Q3 2023)
  4. End of Year (PIP, Coaching Plan, Redeployment) (Q4 2023 - Q1 2024)
  5. Remote Worker (Q1 2024)

All of the above are layoffs without appearing as layoffs. If you look at the market corporate bankruptcies are on the rise similar to 2010 level. You’re going to see more layoffs happening well in to 2024 at Capital One.

If you are caught off guard in anyone of these stages, prioritize yourself and move forward.

I went from Above Strong to Strong to PIP to Below Strong and gone….in 18 months. That’s not a ME problem. That’s a LEADERSHIP CONSPIRACY problem. I have urged every former coworker I know to get out asap. Too many lies. Too many coincidences. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, guess what….

Everyone I worked with at Cap1Software is now "open to work" on LinkedIn.

Is this accurate? What are your sources? Remote worker here with all of my teammates and myself constantly worried about our jobs. We service a specific retail card that has a contract valid until 2028. Unsure if that protects us.

Massive layoff in Dealer today. Most jobs went offshore to people who were trained by Capital One associates. My niece was a part of this group. I was in Auto Refi and I was a part of the massive layoff in June this year (after being a top employee for 22 years). This is such BS and corporate greed.

15% at each level forced to below strong bucket at mid year. All get PIP or coaching plan. Those with PIP will not be around at year end so many with strong mid year rating will drop to below strong at year end. This is “raising the bar”. You must compete against your peers. Everyone look at the people around you. One of every seven of your peers is below strong by definition and will likely not be here much longer. Are you not motivated yet?

In the customer service industry most contact centers already moved to the Philippines. It shows a reduction of 30-50% in operational cost when moving from US to Philippines. So it’s very possible C1 is doing the same here and soon may announce layoffs. In that case will affect many departments.

Here is the deal… if people say “we don’t need to be co-located and working from home/anywhere is just as good”

Company will think “why not hire anywhere ?” This will be unpopular opinion but if company belief is co-location and people aren’t adhering it will be explored

Capital One is having their current employees train agents from the Philippines. They are disguising it as learning from each other but I smell bullsh-t. Here is the email they sent today.

Hello GST!
We are always looking for ways to strengthen our partnership with our Capital One Philippines' peers, learn from one another, and provide Gold Standard care for all of our cardholders. We are one global High Value Business unit and have some exciting new initiatives that you will see rolling out in the next few weeks!
We are excited to share news about an upcoming coaching opportunity for some of our best agents to exchange best practices and coaching strategies with our peers in Alabang. View the video below for a quick overview of this new program and more details will follow!

What a way to have a career. This is death by a million papercuts. It is obvious they are trying to persuade folks to leave on their own and save money. We say we value the employees and we are a great place to work. How is this a great place to work?

There’s a rumor that people management champions have already been asked to identify their 10-15% below strong for year end reviews.
