At a time of shrinkage some bright spark has an idea of increasing a expensive UK 24X7 team.
Such a early year 2000s idea, why would you recruit guys at current high market rates, give them a 35% extra shift allowance, make them do 12 hour non productive shifts then give 3 or 4 days off every week on top to compensate them, employ a load of shift year leaders to track stuff, and on.
The cost is astronomical, why would you do that when you can get the existing guys who already doing the job and know what they are doing to do the work at marginal extra cost.
Sometimes you wonder how these managers are in post and are allowed to execute such crazy ideas.
