Crazy Why would you ramp up a 24X7 team now

At a time of shrinkage some bright spark has an idea of increasing a expensive UK 24X7 team.

Such a early year 2000s idea, why would you recruit guys at current high market rates, give them a 35% extra shift allowance, make them do 12 hour non productive shifts then give 3 or 4 days off every week on top to compensate them, employ a load of shift year leaders to track stuff, and on.

The cost is astronomical, why would you do that when you can get the existing guys who already doing the job and know what they are doing to do the work at marginal extra cost.

Sometimes you wonder how these managers are in post and are allowed to execute such crazy ideas.

There's no one managing this delivery ship properly.

Is this the BAE Command Center you're on about? Why lay the already overworked, underpaid Major Incident Managemers for on call and overtime when you can just dump it on a team funded by the client, and just tell your staff to lie to BAE and that they definitely don't look after other customers like Urenco and Leonardo

If you telweak the figures you can justify anything as we have seen.

Obviously someone's pipe dream, so seems to go ahead whatever the cost or not value add it is.

How are they getting that through?

The people looking at the plan for this must have been sleeping or maybe there's something in it for them.

Very costly non agile legacy way of doing things.

Another expensive white elephant which needs reviewing quick.
