Thread regarding UPS layoffs

UPS Operations Buyouts

Again UPS has offered buyouts to non operations management employees in July 2023. Still no mention of when or if these Buyouts will be offered to operations management employees. These operations management employees have been looked over by UPS. They always have to work longer hours than none operations management employees. Always work the day before and the day after a holiday. UPS could offer these hard working operations management employees and good buyout that would compensate these employees for working different warehouses, various hours, long work hours in hot warehouses. I am beginning to think UPS does not care about it's operations management employees

I wish UPS would offer a good buyout to operations management 55 and over. They should offer them a least one salary, mip, plus vacation weeks and 1 year medical. These operations management people have always had to work long hours, work the day before and after the holidays. They have always been overlooked and under appreciated. Other UPS management people would probably just quit if they were sent to operations. UPS should offer this group a good buyout after peak is over

Offer buyouts to operations management 55 years old and with 25 los. Move management employees less than 55 years older to these vacant positions if needed.

The generation of miserable jobs that people hate is over. Love what you do, and you will never have to work again because it is so joyful.

The youth leave mostly because of the runner gunner rushing kaos. The seniors grew up with this. Younger ones are the laid-back sit around computer generation. If it does not come easy, they do not want it and move on. Seasoned seniors tend to like the battle and hang on till booted out.

UPS has offered management buyouts to employees in certain non operations, Some were offered to employees not even 55 years old. UPS has many many operations management employees 55 years older that have not received any buyout packages. Many young management employees don't see any job opportunities with these older employees not leaving. I know of many young ambitious management employees that have left the company and many more are planning to leave. UPS did not plan these Buyouts. I would have offered the older management employees buyouts 1st, they make the most money

MIP (Management Incentive Plan)- basically is meeting numbers to receive a bonus or benefits like company stock options etc. In real life it is just a fud_ing of numbers in order to get the pay you should have gotten in the first place. Not a truthful path to participate in and should be avoided if you live an honest lifestyle. Little bottom end managements
bonus is connected to many steps upward so the pressure can be great to participate.

What is mip?

Gas and food prices are ridiculous now. No money left over for non-essentials anymore. Bound to have some effect on peak one would guess.

Peak-Oct thru 2nd week of January. Why shuffle people around now? After January 15 makes more sense. Unless they are predicting a weak peak season this year. Some of the big box warehouse workers are mentioning less preholiday trailers to unload for this time of year.

Trying to pay out the same stock dividend to stockholders in a downward approaching economy by skimping on management? The new contract was already budgeted in and comes around like clockwork every 5 years. But is handy to lay the blame there.

UPS is now freezing management pay and no longer will be giving mip. I guess they gotta pay for the new contract.

Although UPS has started offering some operations management buyouts, it has not hit on road supervisors yet. I heard that UPS is only offering 1 month pay and 1 week for every year of service up to 25 years. This is OK, but UPS should offer operations management at least one year and half salary. UPS is a good company to work for(use to be a great company to work for) they have really abused their operations management employees for the benefit of the union operations employees. UPS should offer their operations management a better buyout. Former CEO Scott Davis got a very hefty buyout/retirement package.

Very good heads up, that way people can have back up plans ready. Thank you for caring enough to help others. The money lost to new teamster contract will be replaced by cutting management it appears. What was the dollar amount they lost to pay for new contract? (that might have been in news somewhere). That percent of loss maybe the same target % of layoffs. The goal is always to keep stockholder's dividend even or going up and never down.

Washington, Portland and California are the areas I’ve heard specifics. I heard California got it the worst. I won’t go into specific hubs or people for fear of retaliation. But lots of ft supervisors, many managers. And even some DMs. As more has come out it’s looking like 15% cuts at ft supervisor level. Nationwide. Only reason given is they are restructuring.

Like any big company the numbers are all that matter not the hard-working people. Under contract employees are basically employees at will. Get out of op/mgmt and go into union operations like driver etc. Only way to have any rights or say.
