Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Prepare for the collaps

the collapse will happen, this company cannot survive when it has to rollover tranches of debt at significantly higher rates than in the past. The business model only just about worked in a low interest rate environment.

This is 100 percent on point. Our current business model is unsustainable, and we're about to find that out in the worst possible way. Make sure you have a plan B, folks.

The new SLT is attempting clean up the pile of debt from the past, while trying to make the company more tech, less telco. The major missing piece is the story of why should customers care about Lumen when there are good offerings like Cloudflare (CDN, DDOS, security), Comcast and others. Quantum fiber is still good old plumbing. Faster yes, but still plumbing. And why does anyone care about the plumbing when its about the same from everyone else, unless you are in some obscure corner of the country.

The NaaS story is an example of the plumbing think! Who needs on-demand capacity from just two inter-exchange points on the internet? A tiny percentage of customers. NaaS should be the portal for all services, dynamic, with auto connect to clouds etc. Lumen has the choke points to reach cloud but its not choking anything.

The story has to change. How does Lumen tie the services and apps the customers care about, with the network underneath. Otherwise, Lumen will be another take over story by PE who will find a way to refinance the debt at cents to the dollar and then rebuild a story that everyone will pay for.

Your brothers and sisters at AT&T, Verizon, and Tmobile just heard there's a major layoff in 2023.
I'm sure they are louder whiners and criers at Bigger companies than smaller Lumen.

There are a lot of people making good money these days. It is just too bad that we are working in a dying industry. Hopefully this firm can get it's act together.

"Most will never find jobs that will pay for their living expenses and debt."

(Only if they never try to find another job. Lumen doesn't overpay that much).

Most Outside technicians don't qualify for today's high tech jobs. Even the Central office will have hard time finding jobs.
CDT techs probably have the best chance to find something better.

Sad to say, if Lumen fails. A lot of people will be laid off. Most will never find jobs that will pay for their living expenses and debt.

Another 52wk low today & they continue business as usual. It's a shame they don't have a way to make polls on this site. It would be nice to see where people stand on when the downsizing will begin & when they believe it should have begun. In my opinion they should have been offering packages once the shares went below $10. It's mind-boggling how they continue with the same thing everyday & the stock results are down 85.6% in 12mo. I should have started shorting our stock around $7 & doubled the position once they let it free fall at $5

What Lumen offers? BS. You keep telling yourself that yes man! They are greedy and have no future in telecom. That’s a fact!

Most aren't copper only techs. And if you're stupid enough to try to find a copper only job once you leave, well you get what you deserve.

As a Lumen technician for 25 years. I want to see Lumen to succeed. If Lumen fails, most of you will never find new jobs to equal what Lumen offers. No one wants to add copper technician to their team. Best offers might come from grunt jobs.

Listen, don't focus on the reality of declining revenue, rising interest rates, and a shrinking business. What you need to do is hop on board the book club train. 3 stars and a pizza gift card if you read the books they prescribe. It will solve all. right?.... right?? ... right???
