Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

Joining Unite a no brainer for those of us staying

It goes without say that the only way those of us that are staying after the redundancy process will have proper representation and some sort of security is if we all join Unite the Union. This goes for both shift workers and day staff alike. Do you think in a unionised workplace it would have been acceptable to impose a pay cut on employees whilst shareholders continue to reap rewards for all our hard work? Not a chance. Whatever the outcome of the court processes it looks like a ballot will be happening. This is anonymous and run by the Labour Relations Agency. This is where we all must vote in favour, or forever more be treated with contempt by the greedy bosses.

It goes without saying that employees should join a union.Seagate management and HR make up the rules as they go along, there is no protection for employees. The present round of redundancies have been a farce from start to finish.Get the union in and none of this farce of a redundancy system would happen. It would have been done right.Techs need to get unionised as their workload will double but their wages staying the same and no trainee technicians getting trained up.

I'll vote Yes, only if they vow to protect the corned beef and cabbage from being cut in the canteen!
