Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

So what, if layoff happens to you

Here are the facts-
People get new jobs everyday.
People get fired from jobs everyday.
You will have 60 days to find a new job.
If you get a new job, you have extra cash from the packages.

So relax

The economy is so great under Biden that a lot of people have two jobs!

So glad I left when I first saw the charlatan on stage jumping around. Economy was much stronger under Trump before covid. Went from mid $150k to over $200k salary.

Good luck to everyone it will impact. I wonder how it feels to be told you have to get an experimental vaccine to keep your job only to be let go.

I was laid off in May and haven't found anything yet. The only offers I've gotten have been requiring me to relocate to Austin, TX or Florida and I can't relocate since I have teens and elderly parents that I care for. Those areas seem to be hiring but other areas of the country, not so much. Tech is dead in most of the country and there are broad hiring freezes, especially for senior level positions. I have gotten a lot of interviews with multiple rounds but they are not in tech and it's always one person in the last round who doesn't want to hire anyone who doesn't have experience in their specific industry regardless of how well my skills transfer over. When you have 5 rounds of interviews and have invested a ton of time, with multiple companies, it is very frustrating. When you are required to do so many rounds, and have to be vetted by like 20 people it makes the hiring process extremely lengthy and frustrating. There's always that one person who doesn't want to hire anyone from outside their industry.

It is extremely rough out there and the hiring process is very different from 10 years ago.

Here are the real facts OP-

There are people that were laid off in January that still haven't found new jobs.
Skilled, experienced people that are applying to roles almost every day.
They either get rejected by software or make it to the offer and find out the pay is significantly less than they were making before.

T-Mobile isn't the only company doing layoffs before the end of the year. The already oversaturated applicant pool will grow again, making it harder.

Sure there are examples of people who found a new job quickly or are making more money, but telling people worried about layoffs to "relax" is a di-k move.

I thought everyone here was complaining that there’s too many people and were begging to get laid off. What happened?

I feel sorry for people in OP. Not a lot of great corporate options.

I have seen top performers let go without any hesitation when it's time to make cuts. People that worked hard and volunteered for the most difficult projects and tasks. None of that will help you. Oh, you put in 20+ years at the company and gave it your absolute best? They don't care. The person deciding your fate most likely doesn't even know your name. They don't care. You are expendable. Your contributions were no better than the slacker that is constantly under performing. T-Mobile is a sinking ship. The best thing you can do is keep your head down, do as little as possible, and wait for SLT to decide when your time is up. Or start looking for other jobs now or at least put yourself out there.

Control. They say who stays (not laid off) and who goes (laid off). For their benefit. Period.

I don’t get why they don’t do voluntary layoffs. It would make the reduction in force way less stressful and not impact peoples mental health and company morale. It would also allow people who may have undue hardships or reasons they need to keep their job to support family to stay and others who are in positions to leave can exit.

Hey fu-k right off with that.

It’s an intensely personal situation. To dismiss it shows a lack of emotional intelligence. What might be freedom for some might ruin others.

Have some fu----g empathy.
