Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Carelon RIF?

I saw a Facebook post saying the Carelon side is laying off 10,000 employees? Has anyone heard this? They are hiring auditors right now. It’s very scary. Is any dept safe? I’ve heard that G & A & auditing are typically safe but who knows.

The person who told me that G&A and auditing are typically safe is a manager but again, I don’t think any dept is safe or that anyone really knows what’s going on except for those at the top making the decisions. We all know it’s to save money so the top can get more money added to their already ridiculous salaries.

G&A I would not consider safe.
They are having much of their work offshored just how Claims started to years back.
If they can pay the people in the Philippines way less to do the same job- they will. That’s what they are notorious for at this point. Train people offshore to do your job- keep telling you that you’re safe and that it’s just to help your department, and then they axe us and keep the working going offshore to cut cost. It’s unfortunate but true.

Who lied to you and said G&A auditing is safe?

10k would be about 10% of workforce…so within possibility based on what I’m hearing elsewhere of a 10% across the board cut

I was debating on applying for an auditing position but I do not know if that’s the right move or not. I don’t think anyone knows what to do anymore. I don’t think anyone is safe. I would look outside the company but where? All insurance companies lay off annually it seems but I’ve worked from home for 8 years now so I’m not sure what to do anymore. It’s scary. Maybe I’ll start looking at other avenues that offer work from home like the VA or major hospitals in the area.

Any new details? My department did have a meeting early this week with our new president who said we need to focus on the present and 1/1 activities. It's hard to stay focused and remain positive when you feel like you will get laid off right after 1/1. I'm going to start applying to other companies at this point. I don't really have a choice.

I honestly don’t think any dept is “safe” tbh.

op, can you copy and paste the post from facebook? 10k sounds very high, but I would not be surprised if they lay off 1k.
