Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Fresh Eyes - Friday thoughts

It occurred to me this morning that a common leadership principle is to never let a good crisis go to waste. Crisis creates opportunity for change that is otherwise difficult to implement.

While our executives are repeating issues with Medicaid redeterminations and Medicare STARs over and over again, those may just be a convenient excuse. Yes, they’re real issues - but we’ve known this was coming for a long time.

I think they’ve always wanted to cut headcount. They still do. This is just a perfect opportunity to do it with just a little less guilt.

*But….

Happy Friday to the survivors.

Through our relief for being spared, may we all be a bit more focused on our work. Be more responsive to requests. Sit a little taller on camera. Be more engaged in our jobs. Become a bit more welcoming to change. Work harder and longer to show we’re worth keeping for the next round. *

*…Because this change wasn’t just meant to impact those who lost their jobs. It’s also meant to change those that remain. *

Just some food for thought.

This is the perfect response of how to brainwash the people to carry on and be thankful they still have a job.....people are waking up to see narcissistic tendencies of big org and seeing the gaslighting. Please stand up people and say to them this is not ok..take your power back and quit.

“The lack of strategic thinking capability on this board is beyond concerning. I’m an average employee like the rest. Try to read between the lines.”

Awww what’s the matter OP? Responses not quite going in the direction you hoped? You come on here trying to gaslight then insult us when the responses weren’t in your favor? Typical narcissist. We ARE reading between the lines. That’s how we know what kind of PL you are. There are good PL at Centene. And then there are ones like you. Maybe ones like yourself will be the next to get laid off.

Do you talk to your employees like this? Maybe they can’t say anything to you if you’re in a leadership position but take a good look at these replies to your post and your follow up reply. That’s probably how your team (and anyone else who has to deal with you) feels about you.

Some very strong performers were let go. Employees that remain are going to have to pick up extra work. Your post/reply was a slap in the face to both.

“Reading comprehension” …. Honey go back and look at what you wrote.

Sincerely,
A “survivor” that has dealt with gaslighting narcissistic colleagues like yourself

OP your post and ensuing follow up comment leads me to believe you’re a PL… and quite a haughty one at that..

The shear hubris, arrogance, and invalidation in this post and subsequent defense of it are astounding.

There are many former Centene employees that were either laid off previously or left. The theme from every single one of them is: 1) much higher pay elsewhere, 2) much better benefits packages elsewhere, 3) much less stress and overwork elsewhere, and 4) more often than not, they are working fully remote for people that watch results and not the clock.

Instead of asking employees to reflect positively on the shock of the recent layoffs, start figuring out how you're going to keep and reward the employees you have left before they realize they can do much better than you.

Survivors/Being spared? You wrote this as if your talking to a domestic violence survivor. Learn a lesson and do better? Evil really does walk among us and actually tries to make us believe we did wrong, what a narcissist….

There is no room for growth here unless you are an a-s kissing yes person. As long as you do that, you’ll get up the ladder. It doesn’t matter how great of talent you are, your level of education or experience. It doesn’t matter how compassionate you are to actually helping transform the lives of the people. None of these good QUALITY skills will get you there. This is so evident when you look who’s been with this company for 10-15 years and in PL positions with zero college degrees and absolutely are clueless to how the “front line “ production actually works. Many do not even know how to answer simple questions, or anything about cpt codes etc. it’s almost embarrassing to be working for so many incompetent people.

Seems many have reading comprehension issues. The point is that the company is sending a message to all employees, not just those let go.

The lack of strategic thinking capability on this board is beyond concerning.

I’m an average employee like the rest. Try to read between the lines.

Was that a threat? Because employees never respond well to threats and intimidation. It is also ILLEGAL!

More food for thought: Those who remain will never forget!
Corporate greed is like a poison, infecting everyone involved and everything it interacts with. Our labor is a privilege granted to you. Do you disagree? When the workforce is completely exhausted and lays down their tools, try and eat your money.

For all this commentary of people don’t know what’s going on behind the layoff. Let me bring you to speed as one of them. I have exceeded expectations on all audits and was well above productivity expectations to the point of being told to not take members. I was spoken to on several occasions since notified by my people leader to let me know if direct Supervision had any say in the cuts I would have been retained. I was to my very last day ki-ling it for Centene. I applied for opening after opening that I was over qualified to be passed over for intended hires (information given directly from the recruiter), who stated that even though the RIF is supposed to be placed first that they were setting intended hire to get around doing so. So please tell me again how much the care or how much harder people can work. I know I’m CM staff works over and above just to get to the overload of work coming in and they’re all ki-ling themselves to serve clients. Yet here we are. Know this the expectations after the cut are gone is that you quietly pick up their work being grateful you have a job. You will be asked to take on the work of three people without question. So please gimme a break with all this nonsense.

Some people really are clueless or posting in behalf of the company. Many employees have stated that they were purposely being evaluated at “meets expectations” due to sr leadership only allowing 5% employees to be at “exceeding”. So how are you really telling people to work harder? Stop forcing people to believe everything in life is fair, it’s not, accept it and stop gaslighting people.

LOL!. Really? Someone things that this board of misfits is so important that people making multitudes of millions per year would stop and post here?

Dude…reality check. They. Do. Not. Care. Enough. To. Bother.

Opinions are like a--holes and there are plenty of them posting here.

Corporate greed and mediocrity are real things, and they are both alive in Centene CEO/CFO roles ,play them the same way they play you . No working hard for this place one day of my life, they can burn in he-l, at the end it doesn't matter. " you are someone who can be routinely assessed and not be here tomorrow"

Although it is hard to see great talent being let go, we don't always know the behind the scene truths as to why one was let go and another not. We can speculate all day long and make assumptions but in all reality we have zero clues.
Thank you for trying to find some positive encouragement going forward and you are right this is an opportunity to do better and be better.
WFH has been an amazing opportunity with it may bring some slacking. We all have room for improvement or we would get exceeds on all our reviews and we all know we do not get that.
So as mentioned look at this as an opportunity to grow and be the best you!
We have a choice to make, be positive or dwell. We are all hurting for those we know that lost their jobs.

Oh hey guys, hey guyssss Sarah the POET must have her family or kids added posting for her now. How the fu-k do you think anyone can “sit a bit taller on camera”. Again showing how out of touch Centene is with normal everyday people.

@OP+1oXT5xd4 appreciate your positivity - whatever gets u by. But it is far from over and there seems to be no rhyme/reason on who is unlucky. if you make a lower salary, and can’t be replaced by offshore, and you’re a weak performer - you may survive another year. Thus, I have seen some very strong performers get let go this week.

Here is some food for thought, more rounds of cuts are coming. Today is not a “we made it” day.

BCBS is striking due to offshoring jobs.
