Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

I wish I had been laid off

I know it might sound insensitive, but it's the truth. I realized in the last few days I don't want to work at a place like this anymore. My mental health is very important to me. Considering that I don't believe things will improve, the only way to protect myself is to leave. Doing so with severance would have been okay for me.

If you’re seeking job security then might try not seeking that. This is the new face of the job market and it’s not an unusual thing for companies to trim every so often…

Just quit then. Layoffs are going on in most companies in this industry, it’s not just Centene…

I’m so glad to get out of this place after 8yrs of commitment! This place has gone down and is no longer an ideal company to work for! Leadership now is a joke!

That’s exactly how I am feeling.

I do kind of feel the same way. Also I was shocked to learn today that one of the Senior devs on our team was let go. I don't know how I feel when working for Centene when there's little job security and we are also expected to pick up extra work when other valuable teammates are let go.

I hope you find a new job soon so that you can spare someone else the agony of a layoff next year. No reason to stay if you are unhappy

Same here! I was hoping I’d get laid off instead of some of my coworkers who really wanted to keep their jobs. It’s really unfortunate. I wish there was someway to volunteer, but I suppose, technically, that would be quitting.

Is it over? If we have not heard anything, is it over this time?

I had actually prepared myself to be laid off. I’m super shocked it did not happen this go around but I assure you this… I’m not sticking around to be called the next time or to be burnt out anymore than I’ve been for months on end . I updated my resume and started researching for new employment a week ago, I am determined to go the h-ll out of He-l!!

I feel this so much. Every day has been miserable. We are getting micromanaged to he-l. I guarantee you everyone in my department aside from management is looking for new jobs. End it has nothing to do with the layoff lol. And my whole department was happy and enjoyed the job previously

Ditto. Saw something on LinkedIn once from some non-Centene exec - “if you don’t want to be here and love being here and what you do, we don’t want you here…nothing personal…we truly want you to be happy…” Our company could have done this better and even taken volunteers. Morale is just gonna be worse for those who feel bad for laid off coworkers they liked or performed well… also worse for those that have to pick up the pieces and work overtime. Such a shame.

Thank you so much for saying that. I don’t think you’re being insensitive or anything. I think you’re speaking truth, and it’s the way a lot feel right now since there’s no security to speak of. severance for the time seems better than waiting for the next asked to fall. And hoping to land a new job first.

unfortunately layoff's are happening deep and wide with most companies. Not sure grass is greener currently with all the layoff talks with most companies.
