Quite quitting is the way to remain sane. It is simply doing the job you're being paid for and nothing more.

the moment I realized the BS games my PL was playing, using me to do their job (things only a PL and above should be doing) they had me doing it all making me think I was so important but then telling their PL they did the work, I started quiet quitting, I give up on trying to get anywhere . It is all about kissing butt and being a yes person, I DID all of that only to be used . the moment I caught on to the cr-p slinging my PL was doing, I stopped. It is especially hard when they BS you, make you think they care and are your friend... no one is your friend at work. we are all coworkers. I trust NO ONE here.
Absolutely correct. I have seen employees receive complaints for not working even received promotions. Hard workers get more work because they can do it. The system is backwards. I have seen employees with no workload get a promotion every year. While others that work hard don’t. It’s about who likes you.
To the person that posted: “ I hope you get FIRED. Why make other people’s job harder… others will have to pick up for you.”
Hopefully this opens your eyes, this story was told by the actual person and I tried to make not so specific as possible. The person says to me, “my old team got a new manager and I saw how he was, so I decided to stop working and see what happened. I would clocked in, take a 1-2hr nap, then watch YouTube for the rest of the day. No clue who was I’m doing my assigned work, because I wasn't even looking at my queue. On my 1:’s I started to get kudos for doing an AMAZING job and get would get removed from the queue, so I could catch up on all the work assigned to me. One of my coworkers tells me that he is doing this for me and I said ok, so that person takes my oldest work and in their 1:1 they get in trouble for having work that’s two months old. I continue to do nothing, on another 1:1 I get more kudos and even a one time incentive for the amazing job I’ve been doing. Then a few months later I get promoted and I was told it was due to the outstanding work I did the entire year. Get my review from the previous year and I get exceeds on everything.”
The person that told me this story, they said this to me on Tuesday, “the hardest working person in my old team that also got an exceeds review, but he actually deserve it. He would work 50+ hours a week and do EVERYTHING the manager asked, gets told he is going to be promoted to a lead in a few months, and a few months later gets laid off.”
So why would anyone want to do any work, if working hard gets you laid off and not working gets you promoted??
Learn the subtle art of failing up
100% fact! Does not matter how great of an employee you are. PL will tell you about a possibility of a promotion just so you do more work to make them look better. You fix problems, have great ideas and solutions, PL turns around and either takes the credit or gives credit to another employee. Then the icing on the cake is PL gives the promotion to the person who kisses butt. Doesn’t matter your performance is higher, you have been with the company longer. It all comes down to who kisses their butt!
I agree, promotions aren’t based on skills or knowledge. It’s based on who likes you. It’s HR or the VP for failing to acknowledge and promote hard working employees, no oversight or accountability for PL. Vicious cycle. But they push you to update workday for a career path then the PL chooses based on who they like.
Coming from someone who had gone way above and beyond, and trusted my PL who kept promising me the lead role on the team, even gave me EE, only to use the cr-p out of my knowledge, overwork me to the burn out stage, and then give the position and praise to someone else. Then turn around and wonder why I stopped going above and beyond! as long as I am in this company and in this position, a quiet quitter I will be. I pray every single day for something else, I apply constantly for other jobs to no avail this far. So I am basically stuck for now and it su-ks. It’s not the work, I can do the work, it’s the way we are treated, thrown around to do this or that with no proper training under PL who have ZERO clue how to do the job, cannot answer our questions and points us to anyone and everyone who all give you a different answer, then the PL’s manager and director come down on the PL about productivity being behind and PL tries to up game and throw back on us and it’s a vicious cycle. We’re all BURNT OUT! nonetheless thankful to still have a job (my heart goes out to everyone who does not) I figured if my prayers weren’t answered to let it be me, then he must have something much bigger in store for me. I just have to do the minimum until that day comes .
100% agree, why to work hard on this sh---y company, to make Sarah bonus bigger? They can routinely assess the workforce and threw you out, I will work the bare minimum as long as Sarah is there
I hope you get FIRED. Why make other people’s job harder… others will have to pick up for you.
I only do the minimum and nothing more. My manager, org, or the company doesn’t deserve more than that.
You want to get promoted and more money? Do from 0-5% if work and nothing more. You’ll be safe a get promoted. Do 5-10% of work, you’ll get recognition, but nothing more. Just don’t do 50% or more of work, because then you get more work and are in danger of getting laid off.
Or regular quitting
