Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Laid off person here...

  • you will receive a letter of separation. Containing information on job placement services, a legally binding document. You have 45 days to sign off. 3 pages.
  • you will receive a severance package, a legally binding document, containing information about your lump sum payment, information about cobra, information about your 401k. You have 45 days to sign off. 17 pages. It sounds like a lot, but it’s a lot of corporate jargon and insurance resources.
  • My last day of work is December 1st. I will not clock back in after December 1st. December 8th is when you are no longer considered a Centene employee. The week of December 1st I will get more information on how to return my laptop.
  • You can use the remainder of your vacation and sick time. I personally got 6 weeks of severance pay that I will receive in a lump sum. I’ve been with the company for 4 years, - I am not sure if the number of weeks you get paid will vary.
  • There are no specific terms of the remainder of your employment, there is no NDA. You sign your separation notice and severance package within 45 days of the day you were laid off. You do not receive your separation notice later. You get your paperwork the day they tell you you’re terminated.

Unless you are willing to out yourself as an HR person, or you have been laid off by Centene during the rounds before this: stop speculating, stop scaring people. We’re all scared enough.

That su-ks it’s one lump sum. More taxes will be held. I prefer a biweekly check. So I got 7 weeks severance my last day is 12/1. Last check 12/8. So 7 weeks would have been about 3 pay periods I think. So that would take me through Feb 2024 . I think…?
I will have to equally divide this lump sum so I have a sense of normalcy.

I worked here for just over a year and got 7 weeks severance.

& for the person who didn’t get instructions on returning equipment, as a remote worker, I’ve returned equipment in the past by filling out a request central form. Then they sent me a fedex drop off code. (Side note, My severance letter said I’d have to send them a list of the equipment they sent me. Do they not know? I honestly wouldn’t be surprised by that based on what I’ve seen while working here.)

Dropping off equipment…hhhmmm …let’s say it can be entertaining if you make it that way. I was instructed by HR to drop off my equipment at the Security desk at Ren 1 WC HQ. When I unloaded it on the table by the security desk, the security guy said I can’t leave it there. I showed him the email with the instructions stating to leave the equipment at the desk. He said he did not care what the email said and that I needed to load the equipment back up. I replied with “ Tough sh— Rent a cop” and walked out the building leaving the equipment behind. No issue after that.

Find the nearest body of water and toss your laptop

OP are you Salary or Hourly? 6 weeks of severance for 4 years sounds borderline criminal compared to what others have posted.

Only a small note I was laid off in the last round and tomorrow is my last official day with the company and I have received no direction on how to return my equipment. So there’s that
