Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Why are people who were rif’d still allowed in the office

After the video sent to everyone last week, how are we supposed to feel safe going into the office without the worry of retaliation from people who were laid off?

If you work at Anthem long enough, you will experience a RIF or two during your career. If you're lucky and want to stay, you'll find another department. I was RIF'd over a decade ago, and i've never heard of anyone causing an issue onsite who was part of a RIF.

When I was rif’d I did work on site for 30 days. I did have two weeks pre-scheduled pto. This gave me time to help hand over work to my peers. And I was also able to gather non competitive notes about my accomplishments for my resume. Like others mentioned, we cared about our peers and leaving them in the best position.

WOW....just wow, bring up your safety concern to your manager, not the people who lost their jobs. And I blame no one, it's the way of the world and frankly, I was not busy.

The OP has an absolutely valid concern, though it could have been worded differently.

The people let go no longer have to talk to you anymore. There is no way anyone really likes you. Even your dog prays for a house fire.

Wow, what a heartless post. I got riffed on 9/21 and I have zero intention of retaliation. Not everyone is a crazy mass sho-ter. I’m sad and frustrated but I miss my team and tons of good people work there. You need to get a grip.

Ok, the video wasn’t even BAD. Yes, he was RIF’d and appeared to be drinking on camera while driving but he also held up a sign at the end saying no alcohol was consumed, keep your sense of humor, and then dedicated it to someone I’ve never heard of. If THAT scares you, I think you have larger problems than the possibility of being RIF’d. Furthermore, while the hybrid model has been enacted, most of the ones being RIF’d are not ppl reporting to the buildings and instead are ppl still working from home. Just… relax. Take a Xanax or something, I dunno, but this post ain’t the flex you think it is.

This place has been riffing people for decades at this point. It's nothing new. They pay slightly higher salaries but the threat is always over your head. That's why everyone is 'playing the game' so to speak. Most people working here know the deal and agree to roll the dice knowing they can be let go at any time. If you require stability then this place isn't for you. It you roll the dice at least extract all you can from this place.

While true about paranoia, no one should retaliate against workers. We have nothing to do with the decision. We are all in the unappreciated boat

The video was sent two days ago not last week and the OP needs to take a chill pill.

Have some compassion.

Chill out dude … not everybody that got riff’ed has an axe to grind. Most including myself have moved on from Eviland and leading a much happier life. So the next time you see someone who got riff’ed just steer away if your that afraid for your life because believe you me we don’t want anything to do with the likes of you.
