Here is what I know: On Monday at 2:15 I received a appointment invite for a 2:30. The subject line was something about “priority conversation”. I am guessing that they are done with the layoffs after today. it’s bad for morale and it really doesn’t take that long to read from a script for a few minutes to tell someone their position has been eliminated. I am hearing that positions have been cut in a variety of departments. Some corporate, some at the State Plan level. I know people from utilization management have been let go, some referral specialist (intake) and also some nurses, two people I know in process improvement were cut also. So who knows. All I know is it feels awful and I don’t trust their severance agreement. You are required to be available to work through December 8 so if you find a job with another company (even if it is at half your current pay) you have to decide whether to lose the opportunity or lose your severance. . Even if you do stay through December 8 there is fine-print that talks about completing all your tasks as required. I would do that anyway, but I also know that if they want to be nitpicky and find something to complain about as an excuse to not pay me my severance I believe they would do that too.

Folks were notified 60 days in advance as required by the WARN notice law - that's why they are 'dragging this out'. Gives everyone the time to plan and work on getting the next position.

I seriously doubt they are going to try and take anyone's severance unless they do something really bad/damaging. The legal jeopardy that would put the company in, risking a lawsuit that could cost millions in order to save what, $20K-$60K? You may be upset with them but they aren't stupid.
Yes, IT…they are sadly expecting to humiliate us and drag this out until December. How else to find cause to terminate you or disqualify you from the Severance package. They need some time to watch your work, monitor your mood and find fault so they can say “no severance for you!”
IT here, got laid off today. Are they really expecting us to work until December?
I got my notice this morning. My last day is December 2nd. It will be hard working over the next few months. Working in IT you get used to layoffs. I been working at Centene for seven years now. Most time layoffs are a good thing. I will move a company that treats me better.
Corp IT here as well. I'm honestly flabbergasted that they are keeping me around for 2 months. This is my 4th time laid off, 3rd while in IT (40+ years) and we were always walked out of the office as soon as we were notified. The only time that didn't happen was when I was working a factory job. We were given 2 weeks notice and zero in the way of severance. I will also say that every time it happened was a blessing in disguise. Not always apparent at first but it always worked out that way for me.
Good luck to all, make lemonade with your lemons.
I was also informed that my position was eliminated as well. 10/3/2023. I work in IT on a team that has been struggling all year to keep up with the workload now they are losing me. I've been pretty burnt out on work so I was unphased. It's really hard now to stay engaged.
So I was part of the first batch of layoffs in April and they had the “available to work” provision but I confirmed with HR that it did not apply. Have they turned off your access to systems and computer? Also my last day was that day and was paid for 1 month plus the 3 month severence which I got after signing the packet. If they have changed the rules and process to string people along then shame on Centene!!! I’m glad I got let go!! I had a job the same day with a former WellCare VP at another company, took Centenes money and didn’t miss a beat!!!
No brainer: get the job forget severance!

🚨BINGO!! 🚨
You hit the nail on the head, darling. If you’ve felt for a while that you’ve been set up to fail with the tasks assigned (for the multitude of reasons that might be) WATCH. OUT..
Thank you for the update. I just wish my dept would give any update. I've heard nothing all week and it's just business as usual.
I just got notified too but I didn't get any paperwork yet. Last day to work is Dec 1.
I'm so sorry for you. I hope you find all of the happiness and success in the near future.
