What’s delusional and uninformed is your assumption. Companies stockpile cash to set investors at ease when they expect major losses or when the future is uncertain.
But…it also helps attract buyers.
You will never, ever, find a publicly traded company without some amount of cash on their books. But they are usually forthcoming about why that money is there and how they intend to use it.
What’s different here is the size of the cash and how long it has stayed on the books.
You always want your money working for you and have a plan for it.
The larger that pile of money, the longer it sits, the clearer the story.
