Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Stop panicking and fear-mongering

No, Centene will not disappear in five years. And no, there will be no 6k or 8k or who-knows-how-many k layoff following this one. At least there is no way for us to know that. People are stressing enough over what's currently going on without some of you adding oil to the fire. Have some compassion for your coworkers and show some common decency.

"I've worked for companies that did this very thing and eventually sold the company, it happens. People should be aware once layoffs start, they don't stop until the company is sold."

I've been convinced this was happening for a while now. Politan Capital is a hedge fund group who purchased a large amount of shares a couple years ago. After that, they started calling the shots, getting board members and even MFN removed. (Plenty of articles about that out there, if you google them. Just search for "Centene hedge fund".) Hedge funds operate by piecing off businesses and selling them. Other companies have been sniffing around to buy us, so I'd imagine a more "slimmed-down version" makes Centene a better bargain. I truly believe this is all by the design of the new board and share owners, which is why they are barreling forward, despite the catastrophe we all know is coming.

No sh-t Sherlock. Businesses make business decisions. All businesses large and small do the same. The compassion is not trying and gaslight the situation by spreading rumors, especially those of gloom and doom that are pure speculation and trying to frame them as fact. The sooner you realize the better for you as your poison won't serve you well in life.

even Healthnet times they did that; you lose a contract and all the staff are no longer needed . I remember when HN proposed outsourcing all their IT/support staff to cognizant in India.

Compassion has nothing to do with reality when it's about business or a corporation.

The sooner you realize the better for you.

Centene runs on contracts and when you lose them all the staff supporting that contracts are let go.
No Compassion, only business decisions
