Here is what I don’t understand: our team just welcomed 2 new staff in the last 30 days. Corporate must have know this layoff was coming. So why hire these two new staff and then layoff two people from the team? The only conclusion I can come to is the layoffs are not random. It’s an opportunity to replace older workers with younger ones that can be hired at a lower salary. Cost effective? Yes. Evil? Again, yes.

Older workers on my team that have been with the company are actually the ones making the least. New hire kids hired in the last 3 years had salaries higher than seniors.

Same thing i said! I was one of the employees laid off last day December 1st. I made my own conclusion that this wasn’t based on productivity, quality or lack of knowledge with the position, it was them being able to hire others paying less then what we get.
It’s a two way street. If they came to all of us and asked us all to take a 20% pay it, would you do it to save 2000 associates?
Alternatively, if they told you that you would be losing your job in December, but you could take a lower title and lower paying re, would you do it?
It’s greed and economics, I worked for over 8 years here and was at the highest end of salary for my job title, but I was one of the highest performers - that didn’t matter probably because I was getting paid much higher than a contractor or new hire.
It su-ks and feels sh---y, but Centene is not a community business and doesn’t care anything except what the bottom line is.
