Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Any good news?

Can we be positive for once? Start Monday off with something good?

I am continuing my positive trend of not getting insurance or banking with USAA. Consider it to be a protest of sorts.

I was a laid off software engineer, most of my colleagues were shocked because of my actual technical acumen and length of experience developing systems at USAA, i.e. I was still checking code into codebase when they informed me of layoff.

I just concluded those in charge are keeping their poor decision streak alive, effectively giving me a very large bonus, i.e. severance, to work somewhere else, incentivizing me to not even consider a lateral role with company as I would not get severance if I stayed on with similar position, so, of course I took severance, and, after a couple months off I've found a better position, both in pay and title, somewhere else.

It would be nice to hear about people who were laid off and found great job opportunities. Which companies and what is great about them?

That's up to USAA. Right their wrongs and perhaps there will be something positive to discuss and look forward to.

I just save a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching from USAA to Geico.
