When do you file for unemployment? After Garden pay, or Continuation pay?

Has anyone spoken with Washington State unemployment office on this yet? With the current severance package they are doing continuation pay over set number of weeks, once garden leave ends and severance benefits start. Are we eligible for our full Unemployment payments while we receive our weekly severance continuation payments in Washington State?

"Sadly it’s after Continuation pay which is another way T-Mobile F’d their employees by not doing lump sum payout like previous layoffs the last few years … in hopes people find new jobs so they don’t have to pay unemployment .. Huge shocker this round"

Again, it depends on the state. Some states you can file as soon as you are no longer employed regardless of lump sum of continuation pay, some you have to wait. Some states you have to wait even with a lump sum payment.

In WA, the same week your 60 day garden pay ends.

Not after it ends.

Before it ends.

Look at the website for your state's unemployment office an/or give them a call. There's literally 50 different answers (51 if you include Puerto Rico).
