Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Always posting project management positions

I don’t work for Centene. I have a friend that does but she has recently been laid off but is interviewing for a position in the company.

When I got laid off at Wells Fargo back in March, she suggested I apply at Centene. Since then I see several project manager roles posted. I applied for several and didn’t get an interview.

I have no clue why I can’t even get considered. I don’t know if I’m asking for too much money. The job posting did ask that you put down your starting salary. Recently the two latest postings I saw actually list the dollar range. So that’s a good change.

So my question is, are the jobs postings real? Yes, I know I may not be what they are looking for and that’s why I haven’t been considered for a posting. It just seems weird that for many months several positions keep getting posted.

I have no clue what Centene is looking for to fill these positions if they exist.

PM isn’t up for layoff. My friend is a PM and her boss told her they are good.

Keep in mind that companies never want to look like they aren’t hiring. They will always have jobs posted - even if they never intend to interview or hire into the role.

It looks bad to wall street if there’s no sense of growth or restructuring.

I was told by a VP that sometimes they post a position without the intention of really filling it. I find that to be very deceptive.

After reading these posts, why would you want to work for Centene.

I work for Centene and my department recently filled a PM role. Our preference for the position was someone with a knowledge of the healthcare system.
