Electronic Data Systems (EDS) joined the Fortune 500 in 1968, ranking at number 435.
Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) joined the Fortune 500 in 1971, ranking at number 381.
Both EDS and CSC were early pioneers in the information technology (IT) industry, and their inclusion on the Fortune 500 list was a testament to their success.
EDS was founded in 1962 by Ross Perot, and it quickly became one of the leading providers of IT services to the government and Fortune 500 companies. CSC was founded in 1959, and it specialized in developing and implementing complex software systems.
In 1997, EDS merged with General Motors' IT division, forming EDS Corporation. EDS was acquired by Hewlett-Packard in 2008, and it was subsequently merged with HP's IT services division to form HP Enterprise Services.
CSC was acquired by Computer Associates International in 2010. In 2017, CA was acquired by Broadcom, and CSC became a subsidiary of Broadcom.
While EDS and CSC are no longer independent companies, their legacy lives on in the many IT products and services that they developed and implemented over the years.
