Attorney’s interpretation of severance plan

Is anyone thinking about getting an attorney lined up to interpret denbury’s severance plan against the X offer they expect? Some of the pivotal factors seem vague and subjective especially when it comes to being offered a similar position.

Who decides whether the position you are offered is comparable enough to disqualify you for the severance package?

If you get the severance package and then find other employment a few months later can you be required to forfeit some of the severance payment? This sometimes happens.

That’s why we’re staying put for 2 years then released. Many will go on their own (saving EOM severance costs) then they’ll release the rest (also no severance). Use the time to find another job. Maybe the accountant will hire you to babysit her useless husband.

No one is coming to save us. This is the system. Just get out. They could give little care for you or your family. U either f them or they get to f you. And this is 98% of businesses you will ever work for. Remember that and don’t give your family and life up for these millionaires. Balance your fam and life first.

Yea, XOM will simply not pay any severance. You can send a letter telling them what you think your job changed within 90 days of close but they can just disagree and not pay severance. You definitely need to get an attorney to review the plan and help you draft the letter. I’m still not sure it will matter.

XOM lawyers are smart enough to make sure you don’t get a severance.

How would XOM ever find out you accepted another job if they severed you?

Has that already been made clear? Where? Literally no chance of that happening?

Severance (if paid) is not able to be "clawed back" if one finds employment elsewhere.
