Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

COBRA Details

I think I might be on the chopping block and I am in peace with it. I was planning to start my own consulting business and may use this layoff as an oppurtunity to finally do what I was planning long time.

Anyhow, does someone know what our COBRA coverage details will be - not sure if age and gender are important for the quote, anyhow I am about 50 years old, male...

COBRA is your same coverage as what you now have through the company. The difference is you now pay for entire monthly premium, instead of the company paying a portion of it on a monthly basis.

It's not a bad deal. This is what mine said. I was a part of the RIF in August that no one heard about...

Should you make a timely election under COBRA, for the number of months specified above
or until you are no longer eligible for COBRA (whichever comes sooner), you will be charged the same amount as is charged to active
employees for similar coverage, rather than the full COBRA premium amount, and the Company shall pay the remainder of the COBRA
premium amount. After such time and for any remaining period of COBRA eligibility after the subsidy has exhausted, you will be solely
responsible for paying the entire COBRA premium for the coverage elected.

If you do start your own company, be sure to post details here so you can pick up a couple thousand good employees who were wrongfully laid off!

When I was laid off by WellCare years back they sent the information to my house by mail.

Not sure, but usually Cobra is 18 months.
Past layoffs, Centene paid their part of the premium for 3 months.
