Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

CSBD?

I avoided the RIF this time - but anyone let go in CSBD in creative? No one is talking but attitudes are weird.

I just wanna know who’s next and I know we aren’t going to get that. My manager and I are fairly close and she insists that if she gets wind our area is going to be subject to RIFs then she’ll give us all a heads up, but honestly, who can trust that? I used to love working for this company. Now I’m just anxious every moment of my shift, every single day.

If your meetings are getting lighter and you're feeling less valued - your instincts are right. Sure, you might show up to a meeting request, but are you really involved? That's a warning sign.

Fly under the radar, get your job done and spend your efforts on perfecting your resume and applying for jobs. Often, people don't want to apply for jobs while they have a job, but that is the BEST time to look. Should you go all the way through a 2 to 3 month interview process AND get an offer - you don't have to accept it. Don't wait until you've got notice to land your next job.

To your point about, "Attitudes being weird...", I can only speak for myself, but there's a combination of wtf from not knowing that layoffs of this magnitude were impending, combined with feeling like remaining staff are under extra scrutiny to justify their value to the company. I was not even aware of the existence of thelayoff.com site until someone forwarded me a link the day before RIF's were communicated. It seems everyone in our area now wants to be involved with everything so that they appear engaged and vital to success. I myself am not immune to feeling this as well.

Some areas in CSBD were already hit hard back in June. I know of some teams/departments that lost upwards of 50% of their staff. I don't think CSBD was/is the big target this time around but, as you know, there is no such thing as job security with this company.

CSBD employee and I was RIFed after 20+ years. I know of at least 5 others from CSBD that were RIFed with a long tenure at the company.

I heard today from Manager that it was only GBD due to medicaid and medicare cuts. And that we (CSBD) should not be affected but in June we lost 3 from our team, so who knows?
