Every day I come into the office is a huge waste of my time and energy. It's destroying my mental health and my ability to work. Having to block out 3 conversations while trying to focus is driving me insane

Your mental health takes precedence. Please seek a job accommodation request. My anxiety has been off the charts due to the RTO changes. Many of my peers were able to receive a JAR- your health care provider will support you!
I'm going to ride a donkey to work and chisel my reports onto stone tablets.
I was far less productive in the office before Covid, as is the case now that I’m back. I also had to work more hours (60-80) every week to keep up. I was shocked and happy to find that when i worked at home, my family became happier and closer. Even if i had to work late at least i was able to eat dinner with my family, see my children after and before school, help with their homework, and have quality time with them. Note that we’re back in office, i will not be putting in those same hours. My work production is definitely less, but I’ve put together a detailed project log and i show it to my management every week and when they add tasks so they can prioritize what they want me to do. They can easily see what isn’t able to get done within the workweek. This decline in work production is the company’s choice and they have to live with it.
I worked from home for USAA (sometimes hybrid) for YEARS before covid and frankly never had any issues getting my job done and my leaders (in analytics) did not care one bit where I was sitting for our video calls. The idea that “everybody” is doing this is a farce. I left USAA before all of this DURING covid but work for a company that has ZERO intention of forced office presence and the pay is competitive and culture top notch. Don’t settle for pi-s poor treatment guys.
How did you manage to work before you experienced working from home?
Answer: people also used to commute via horse, should we go back to that?
My question wasn’t clear enough. The poster says they can’t deal with the loud office and distractions. They managed somehow.
I am personally a bitter employee. I was lied to when I was hired. I just am curious on how this person could do it before but not now. Also, I get remote is way freaking better and I am 100% more productive working from home.
The lack of empathy some posters are showing here is out of this world. How hard can it be to imagine that some people are better at working from home versus working in the office? I've worked from both environment - before working at USAA I was working remotely and working in the office is a substantially worse experience.
There was no choice during Covid and companies were trying to keep people motivated.
Wow! There was no concern for self management during covid, was there? Perhaps we should have let the company go to sh-t at the time!
If you can't handle the requirements of the job, then leave. Let everyone know what a great new job you got. I am sure all your wants and needs will be met to your satisfaction to allow the company to pay you and provide benefits. The maturity level here is severely lacking. You don't have the maturity to be self-managed. GTFU

If you can't handle working in an office, then determine a new career path/industry. I hope you find what you are looking for.
