Is everyone that survived preparing in some way? Are you guys applying for external opportunities? Building a hefty emergency fund?

Definitely be prepared. Layoffs can happen. My department is barely getting a full day of workload. It's been a pain trying to figure out what to do for the remaining hours. Especially with having to maintain our metrics. My department has placed unrealistic metrics and it has been stressful. You can't expect anyone to be a top performer if they are barely getting any workload to meet business goals. My supervisor and team are great. They are also in the bind of the uncertainty. I have only worked for UHC for about 2 years. Also, I got tired worrying about the uncertainty and want to get myself out of that situation. I decided to apply for new opportunities about 3 months ago. I have been very fortunate and was offered a new position outside of UHC. It was a very lengthy process where I did rounds of interviews and in the end, it all worked out. The company offered me a great compensation and I def could not turn them down. And of course, I see a steady long-term career path. So just update your resume if you must. Don't feel discouraged. Have resiliency and patience. And best of luck!
Stockpiling cash. If they want me gone I’ll be gone regardless so there’s no point to churn out more profit for Andrew sh---y
Nothing really. I'm rather rich and could retire now and make my salary pretty easily on dividends and money Markey yield. But my job is easy, remote and well paid so i still work. But I worry about hyper inflation and the overall future due to terrible gov fiscal policy. I'm hoping for at least another 10 yrs at UNH before being forced out.

Would not sign-on bonuses for new hires would not be required to pay back to UHG if UHG lays off new hires hired this year and last year?
The sign-on bonus only requires new hires to pay back the pro-rated portion to UHG if new hires left the company at will or voluntarily or fired by the company due to violation of code of conduct. I don't think layoff counts towards the violation of code of conduct, so new hires should not be considered for layoffs unless UHG wants to waive the right of not able to be paid back on sign-on bonuses especially for new hires hired in recent few months.
Am I right?
I’m adding value in my every day work and have positioned myself as a resource that would be extremely difficult to replace quickly. I suggest you stop investing your time into endlessly browsing indeed and do the same.
I’ve been endlessly searching for a New job for 6 months now.
Already working other jobs on the side. I can’t afford to miss a single paycheck. I’m grade 31 for corporate. Nobody is safe.
