Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Cigna Lifers, tell me how layoffs work?

I've been in Express Scripts for 1.5 months. Would love to make it to 16 months....as I can't really accept an early layoff if that is possible. If I feel a layoff is pending, I will file an FMLA.

So I think poster has been there 15 months not 1.5.
She can go FMLA if she has a medically substantiated reason.
If you are selected for layoff it will pend while you are on approved FMLA as they must guarantee you a job of equal value. However once you're back you're fair game.

Firstly, to qualify for FMLA, you must be employed with the company for a minimum of 12 months. Secondly, as someone else commented, FMLA does not protect against job elimination. If you are newest on the team, you will likely be the first to go. I was laid off 20 years ago - last hired, first to go. Nice try though.

My job is more important than the rest bc guess what? The rest are covered by their manager. They usually layoffs one per team. If you feel you are the shortest straw for whatever reason ( often nothing to do with talent) , then any and all methods to protect your job are on the table.

Is it just me or is this post ridiculous? Why is your job security more important than the rest of ours. You’re not going to secure yourself a position by abusing a benefit.

If you think filing FMLA will protect you from job elimination, you are sorely mistaken. Job elimination can happen to employees in any status at any time at leaderships discretion (FMLA, STD, LTD, etc.).
