Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Early Retirement

I truly feel for those of you who have been laid off. I'm sorry. My heart goes out to you. It has been a brutal week. I hope you each find youself in better circumstances!

I am preparing for the possibility of layoff in future rounds. I have several questions. Do managers and above have any ability or influence to defend your job if HR wants to lay you off? Does anyone know what the early retirement offer looks like? Is there a requirement for minimum years employed, etc? What happens to stocks and options that haven't vested when one is laid off or takes early retirement? Thank you.

There is no such thing as early retirement other than 1) you decide to retire or 2) they decide you are being cut. No special package for either one.

In my 21 years I’ve seen critical employees rif’d because it was about meeting a $ amount not based on performance.

If you pay attention to the way business is handled, they don't value their customers. If they don't value customers, why would they value employees? They've become a technology company, not a health insurer. They let people go, but they have beautiful modern offices. Pay attention to how they spend money (Wellpoint, Anthem, Elevance)

The CEOs of both hospitals and health insurances pushed American doctors to the curb and replaced them with foreign doctors often from third world countries who need them more.American colleges over the past 4 decades turned qualified American students away and could have open up more seats in their programs but instead intentionally caused their so called shortages. Spare me the racist comments because America like no other country IS diverse. These CEOs often foreigners themselves hire foreigners who accept unsafe assignments and their doctors are called hospitalists. They do not practice interdisciplinary approaches because they are the oppressors. 5000 deaths a week in our nations hospitals that ARR preventable. They overwhelm these foreigners who miss diagnose. BC Americans FIGHT BACK. Write the US Labor board and cc it to every legislator in Colorado or your state. Tell them all of you will bring a class action suit against BC and the US labor board. Stop the 3rd world care and write to the biggest corporations in your state and tell them to drop BC. Demolish this foreign first corporation that road the backs of Americans to end up giving American workers the boot. Use your anger productively.

I have worked for Elevance for 14 years and it is obvious they do not care about their employees. I am curious as well as what early retirement looks like, I don't really even know what that means. Does that mean you could not collect unemployment since you were forced to retire?
