This round isn't even fully over yet and people are already talking about a November round and another in February. I'm sorry, but sc--w that. I'm not staying in a place where we can't go a day without having to worry about more layoffs. This is the push I needed to finally get off my butt and start looking for a new job. There have got to be places better than this.

What ever you do, do not let this company drive you out by leaving voluntarily due to stress specially if you have satisfied the requirements for severance pay. Believe you me this company will do everything they can to relieve themselves from paying associates the severance money they rightfully deserve. This company is evil incarnate and their only goal is profit in anyway they can get it even at the expense of their hard working associates. Take care everyone ... do not let this company stress you out ... life os too short ...
Much of GBD IT can’t be moved to offshore as some state Medicaid agencies prohibit offshore IT to have access to their patient data.
Take your vacation they skirt state laws and you lose it.
When they do these big RIFs, the list is already set -- so anyone who escaped this round may (or may not) be on the next.
They also factor in how much you're costing the company, so even if you're older/have been here longer than someone else, the someone else may have been chosen because their salary is higher. This happened in a group I'm familiar with -- someone willing to take the package and brushing up against 65 survived, while his counterpart, a few years younger, was let go. That person was more instrumental to the team with no one else on it who could do his job, but he made more.
Have a 6 mos to 1 year salary saved up. Take advantage of all you can that this company offers such as ESPP and tuition reimbursement. Don't stay one second over, take your breaks, take your lunch, take your vacations, use the flex time even if you don't need it. Elevance only cares about profits they do not care about you. Keep resume updated and have linkedin connections and always look for another job to see how the market is. But know that when your turn comes and it will, you will be prepared.
Hey@hrj+1oJuBKnY same here. But WTH how did I scave by this one I'm in GBD IT. I kept thinking it was a mistake, I kept checking for that email meeting invite. What? I'm waiting around for it too. I think after 40 years I deserve it. I even volunteered. IDK they could have some people and take me. Next move is to go knock on Gails door.. take care
Agree. The only reason I am staying for now is because I want to take advantage of my time here and get the severance. I could use some extended paid time off from this place at their expense.
I could not agree more with the previous anonymous comment:)
Having been here near 20 years - this threat gets old & is way too stressful. Do your job as well as you can, make yourself useful & ride the wave. Then, appreciate the resume you have developed & hope you can find something similar, if ever the time should come.
Unfortunately that is the way of life in Anthem/Elevance world. There will always be an axe hanging over your head and will never know when it will come down on you. This stress is really aggravating considering the amount of stress you have to deal with your day to day work. My advice from someone who has been in this situation for more than 2 decades is to just ride it out and do what is expected of you and nothing more. Don’t ki-l yourself over work cause believe you me this company will never care if you are a hard worker or not … when they don't need you anymore they will drop you as a hot potato. Take care everyone … there is still life after Anthem/Elevance for everyone out there.
