Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Process question

How does the layoff process work - are you handed a package, who is in the room, remote? What do they say? Are walked out immediately? Anyone here who had an actual experience?

Not all processes were the same. Case by case basis. If you're affected you'll know your process.

I 100% understand the frustration and disappointment by how this layoff has been handled. I am a legacy Sprint person. I have been through 19 layoffs in my 22 year career. This, by far, has been the most difficult and the most poorly executed. But I have to say it. The comments about "who you blow" certainly are not true. I know the situation and i know it is not true. Everyone's situation is different and writing nasty disparaging comments here...anonymously... is low class. Be a better human.

Hired back already?

It’s all about who you know, not what you can do.

I am in Consumer. I was on a team of 11. 7 were let go and 4 remain. Our senior director scheduled individual 10 minute calls with each of us the day of. Our director had been let go the day prior or it might have been a discussion with them. I was not let go so I can only relay what my impacted teammates shared. They had two hours to remove data from computer. At the 2 hour mark access was removed. They were emailed severance details to their personal email. They are in a "garden period" until 11/2 where they can apply for TMO jobs. I think this is happening organically with peers sending them posted job info. There are open roles within our organization. On 11/3 they are officially on severance. There was a senior manager in my org who was let go. They were off for the past two weeks. Their peers notified them that a senior manager who was NOT let go decided to volunteer to leave opening that position. The impacted senior manager contacted the hiring manager and was hired back. They started back yesterday. It has been very hard to pinpoint the logic behind the choices of who was impacted. My teammates were all good employees. I do feel like remote location played a role but that has not been 100% true.

Why do you care? Some sort of ghoulish interest?

I was laid off last week however they still gave us access to the system so we could help with stuff for the next 60 days. When laid off you are still employed for 60 days. They change your access to work day so you have to log in via a different user so you can access stuff there including the lay off docs that explain everything.

I was part of a massive layoff years ago and was walked out ny my supervisor. However, I still had personal belongings at my desk so I walked by the inattentive guard at the entrance and went back to my desk to pack up.

It was a sad event, but I was able to collect my things.

I was part of a metro layoff a few years ago.
Everyone in office was on same call regardless of position and told we had until end of day to pack up, turn in stuff, and leave.
All while TMO people started coming in to claim our desks and cubicles.
