Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

Seagate doesn’t care about you

If you think that it does just because you have been here for a while, you need to wake up. Even if you're close to retirement, you're not safe. On the contrary. Every single person should be looking for a new job. I'm not trying to scare anybody, I'm just being realistic.

Fake news. The senior core team leader at LCO says Seagate cares about all of our well being!

The company doesn’t actually care about the company either. It’s busy destroying itself. Once it folds and the golden packages are released, no executive will care or think about the company again. It’s just a vehicle to personal wealth for them and any future for the company beyond their engagement is of zero concern to them. They don’t care about the technology, the product, the customers, the suppliers, or you. It’s all a game to play.

It's all a joke. The company says no promotions, hiring freeze, reductions after reductions, no raises or bonuses and yet we see people get promoted in the midst of the companies worst business state, and mind you not in critical operations positions, but HQ/admin positions. I saw a recent promotion that was simply to give this person a title. Nothing changed, just title and I'm sure pay. I am just riding the wave, collecting what money I can until it goes away or something better comes a long and so should the rest of you.

The company is quick to delete all your files if you leave, but if you try and save your work beforehand you best believe they will have their corporate minions (people in ridiculous positions) after you. The company cares about the company and it's important you all realize that.

I don't get your point. Are corporations legally or ethically bound to archive every laptop owned by an employee? Maybe in the medical industry or banking. I guess I just don't see the evil or immoral statement here.

I am amused about the way any Sharepoint database can be nuked simply because the one name attached to it has left the company.

If you want to throw outrage, it should be over the two year email retention. They clearly don't want to archive anything that might blow back on them from lawsuits.

BTW, once laid off, your work laptop and all the years of work and effort you have toiled for that is stored on it is unceremoniously deleted. There is no care or concern for the product of your efforts on there. All your presentations and spreadsheets and procedures that are not part of a company official stored document are simply deleted along with you. You are fully erased. This is actually the process if you've been paying attention. Act accordingly.

You are just a line item with your employee number, a compensation cost number, a health care cost number, a privileged minority adjustment number, and a secret rank number from your management team. The formula is run, and a list is generated for the next layoff. Nobody cares about you, your family, or anything else in your life. You are a fool to think otherwise who can't even learn by looking at recent layoffs.

Seagate definitely cares about LCO because we are hard workers! I see a lot of complaining on here from people at NRM and STST. LCO on the other hand takes pride in our work!
