Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Who are we competing with?

Yes, Lumen dropped the word telecommunications when they changed names. So, are we (still) in competition with these (few) communications companies?:

CHTR - Charter $449.37 (share)
TMUS - T-Mobile $143.12
APO - Apollo/Brightspeed $91.17
CMCSA - Comcast $45.97
VZ - Verizon $34.04
FYBR - Frontier $15.45
T - AT&T $15.06
+47 other communication companies between $110-$20 per share. Like, CCOI $67.10, CHT $36.45, BCE $40.99, etc.

LUMN - Lumen $1.45

Or are we alone on an island?

And what is Charter doing that we cannot mimic? We had 36 states. I don't think Charter existed in 36 states. Plus, I have not heard of Charter "wireless". Charter is not in the wireless business. How do we become them?

Time & debt. Always way behind & playing catch up has caught up with us. The majority of the equipment we're deploying and have in the field is manufacturer discontinued.

Lumen and Charter/Spectrum are the main providers in my area. Customers will almost always choose Charter/Spectrum over Lumen when they have a choice.

Lots of territory where the competing MSO is Charter/Spectrum.

First off the price per share is rather irrelevant. The real measure is Market Capitalization. LUMN's market cap is approx $1.5B. Charter is $67B. Share price is determined by number of shares outstanding. Charter has about triple the revenue as LUMN but Wall Street says their 50 times as valuable. Then the question of Charter. We are not really in the same business. Charter is Time Warner Cable. I don't recall any of our residential plays where the competing cable TV company is TW or Spectrum. Cox and Comcast are more prevalent. We both try to sell internet services to consumers and connectivity to businesses.

Could probably go with another ISP in our area. Prices are cheaper and faster.

Well said. We lost our way as a company when we walked away from serving the customers in their need to be connected and to communicate.
