Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Finance Dept.

The emails started after 5pm. Meeting with a director and a senior director scheduled for tomorrow. “Org Updates” 😂

The 15 minute meeting in our case was to tell you if you were laid off or safe. Some came back saying they were laid off and others came back saying they were safe. So just because you got the 15 minute meeting invite doesn't necessarily mean you're gone.

You must be joking. Finance is the stingiest group out there. No travel below director for years, no free magenta cr-p, no parties, no promote in place, strictest budget there is, etc, etc. Finance is the financial steward, not greedy ba----ds. Unfortunately some groups do have an ugly job to do, especially when SLT chooses to take drastic measures (major layoffs) for short term revenue purposes. Look to SLT (and of course good ol' Wall St) for the real greed. SLT compensation is ridiculous.

I know CEC training departments weren't fully cut. Seemed like 2 were left, but they got the meeting "Org Update." However theirs had a different link, they all thought it was the same. So there's the possibility it could be a safe one if the rest of the department is being let go. But honestly most of them don't seem to be this way.

Good luck to everyone. I was hit on week 2. Wishing you all the best.

This is the exact email I received last year before I was let go, along w/several other co-workers on our team. What SU-KED was my 2 other teammates thought they were safe (as did I) until later when I was reviewing my paperwork and saw them listed on the last page of my separation paper (which included a FULL list of every team member on the larger team/entire org, listed by title and age…it was easy to figure out who the “laid off” employees were since they were listed first and out of order, so I knew but wasn’t 100% until they texted me at 8pm that night letting me know they had both received a “Org Updates” meeting invite from our VP which was exactly my experience, the night before.

With that being said, another co-worker received the same meeting invite but was told his position would remain but to respect the fact that others on our team were let go.

Just because you got the email DOES NOT mean you’re 100% out…unless TMO actually grew a tiny little heart and stopped sending those emails out to those who weren’t impacted. Regardless, T-Mobile has NEVER handled the process of laying off employees well but this year, they take the cake, making people wait a month to hear their fate is just pure EVIL.

Prayers for everyone. You’ll get through it, no matter the outcome.

Yeah. Sorry if you got a meeting for "Org Updates" as that is the title suggested and used by a lot of the directors/senior managers. If you got an invite with that title and or something else that is 15-20 minutes long, you can assume you are being notified that your role was terminated.

I can say that watching these posts over the last few weeks, I am extra thankful that I got my notice on Day 1 (Aug 24). The way you all have been sitting and waiting for 3+ weeks is not right.

Haven't heard about anyone I know directly impacted yet. Hoping it stays that way as there are multiple possible for our group. Wonder if this is just a wave vs it all at once and we have to keep worrying the rest of the month about this.

Tooooo many people under a VP to be told "safe". For 100 people, it will take 1500 minutes for individual meetings. Not happening in one day. Meetings are only for impacted employees.

I do know of some teams in Consumer Group where they scheduled everyone in the group. In your 15 minutes with the VP, you were either told you were safe or let go.

15 minute meeting invite on the day of layoff with your Director means you are gone. They say it could be something else, which is Bullsh-t.
