Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Targeting 30-40% of marketing

the sentiment is there is a lot of bloat from the standalone marketing -> embedded marketing -> standalone marketing debacle (whose fault is that?). of course, there were numbers thrown out like that last year and it ended up being much less so who knows.

It's funny. We used to complain that we "didn't have the marketing budget that VZ,ATT/SPR had" and that was why we were #4. They you build a backend that works, spend money on advertising the back end and suddenly hit #2. But that spend was not in a lot of traditional ways.

He-l, you can probably get do better on your KPIs with some SEO-optimized copy with AI’s help.

Our metrics are worse than companies with 1/1000 of our marketing budget.

Whoever just made the comment “there are no layoffs in marketing” must be bat sh-t delusional… marketing is usually the first to get trimmed.. this company thinking cuts in engineering will do a lot of bottom dollar good.. wait until your network doesn’t work well.. let’s see where the customers go then..

Easily replaced by AI! The d-mbest part of the company is usually the marketing dept. Next is SLT.
