What state are you located? I work in Denver metro and the local rurals. We don't have such a thing as rural Quantum from what I've seen. Quantum & gpon isn't available in most buried areas, mainly where they could overlash. Unless Quantum is selling a rebranded ADSL product 1.5meg from us. Honestly those ADSL customers amaze me by not going to Starlink. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy they stay with us

first step in the process has happened, a freeze on hiring implemented this week.

AT&T and Verizon announced, they are cutting 1000's of jobs in 2023.
AT&T to cut 15,000 jobs.
Lumen will surely follow.

If cuts are coming, hourly, not bargained employees would probably take a hit. Even though they’re hiring everyday for positions not even needed. Hourly enterprise doesn’t have any guaranteed VSP and much easier to just layoff.

Hear ye, tis true! HR doesn't respond to applications for MONTHS! Why? What are they doing that keeps them so busy they can't be entertained to respond to applicants? Are you not entertained?

they may have job listings posted internally, but has any one really looked at them? hundreds of days since they were posted, when you apply to them they go on hold or get cancelled, or you may feel lucky to get a request to do the stupid hirevue web interview and play the 2 ridiculous online games, but never a word or reply from anyone in HR (even if you contact them directly) and never a word from the hiring Mgr.
I guess they are too busy hiring off shore resources rather than Americans.

The bean counters at Lumen knows the rules. By offering carrot to see who might take it. The mostly the senior guys takes it.
That is the Lumen's game plan to weed out the senior workers and replace them with the obedient young men and women.

Sounds a lot like age discrimination phrased that way. Speaking for the bargained side of the company all layoffs are done in inverse seniority. If a layoff is on the horizon they need to give a 90 day notice and anything done past October would lock in those employees 2024 vacation time they'd be compensated for. They definitely can offer voluntary packages to entice some of the older employees.

Personally I don't see how they haven't made moves already once the share prices dropped below $10, 5, 2, etc.

I know a lot that would accept packages right now, if the country falls into a recession your "un-seasoned bargined employees" will be unemployed & us over-seasoned will stay in place

Give me a package! Over 60 with 9 years in. 1 month for every year and cover my med until I'm 65... I'm gone and not looking back!

Quite a few people would like to go whether there is a layoff or not. Horrible management for running the company. They have no idea what's going on.

We will know in a few weeks.
