Just have to vent. I've been with this company on and off for almost 10 years. It's the most bureaucratic, soul-su-king, and dry place I've ever worked. I don't even have a stressful workload or anything. This whole company is just based around getting abstract claims payment software systems to talk to each other as cheaply as possible. If the VP level "leadership" (they're really just resource allocation managers) ever does a virtual townhall (I've had one on my current team in a year+ and he "couldn't make it" so a director had to fill in) it's the lowest-energy, "Office Spacey" cliched business talk imaginable. There's no inspiration. I couldn't tell you "why" we work here.
I know most people posting here think the engagement scores are faked but I don't think they are to a large extent. They're showing like record-breaking scores. Who are these people? Drones? Everyone's just coasting and doesn't want to blow a good thing? Are they crazy or am I? I only talk to like 3 or 4 people and there's no mirth or amusement. Even before WFH everyone you encountered just seemed miserable. It doesn't have to be this way.
