For the second poster, you are saying divisions dont need a dvp? You have no idea what these people do behind the scenes. I wonder about what you are doing if you have all this time to worry about what everyone else is doing.

District teams? You mean the two or three people covering 25+ stores in today's world? Welcome to the new Macy's where we are constantly turning store managers and promoting or hiring leaders we would never have considered for these jobs just five years ago. The company expects district team members to work miracles, trying to keep up with the training and development of so many new executives, most of them without the necessary experience to be successful in the role.

Our idea of developing leaders has morphed into having endless discussions about everyone's two strengths and a weakness. What a waste of time. What happened to determining how we are doing on developing teams based on their results and knowledge of customers and business, not some 2+1 blah, blah, blah, meeting where managers are coached on ensuring they use the correct word during visits.

Business is tough and senior leaders brag about how great visits are at stores with some of the worst results in the company and the leaders get on Monday calls and are forced to talk about how wonderful the visit was. We have lost our way.
