Does anybody else have major issues with freezer/cooler staffing? I'm trying to figure out if it's just my club or a company issue. Finding people to work in the freezers is horrendous. I have 1 guy and I cover his days off. It's really getting old being behind EVERY day. Even worse, the DC is sending sending full pallet quantities of items now.. I swear none of the freight they send makes any sense. Oh they sell 5 boxes let's send 10 cases every day. Wtf man. 😓

High turnover in freezer/cooler in all clubs. Because it su-ks working in frigid temps.
We have a HUGE turnover in the entire club. 3 meat dept associates just put in their 2 wk notice along with 2 other fresh dept associates. Our produce/freezer cooler lead is riding their associates like dime store ponies so I'm sure they are going be saying goodbye real soon. The level of micromanagement is out of control by a herd of assistants that couldn't fight their way out of a wet paperbag. Oh and then we have an assistant mgr telling associates that they get a dollar bump for getting a hilo license. It's a dumpster fire everyday.
Stocking is all day if you ask me.
cooler gets their load, than the bacon & eggs come in, & later 7 to 12 pallets of milk.
it isn't just your club. our freezer cooler does so much business. they expect 2 people to work through all of the pallets & get it stocked. it's unrealistic. freezer cooler & merchandising need to go back to overnight.
F/C is the most difficult area in the club to work. It all stems from the amount of product that is pushed into the clubs. the amount of back stock that associates have to deal with makes the job a hundred times harder than it should be.
Associates have to wade through pallets of unneeded freight in brutal cold everyday.
Very few associates stay very long when they have to deal with freezer. The temps & freight wear a person down.
Clubs receive deliveries daily.
Computers tell them the average sales are per item.
So, Why have over a week or two week's worth of product on hand?
It's likely that the buyers are getting gifts or money from vendors for purchasing all of the extra product.
Those vendors get a bonus from their company for selling a specific amount, so they kick some of it over to the walmart/sam's buyer that helped him out with the extra purchase.
Just think how much easier it would be to stock quickly if we got what we needed. How much more time could be spent cleaning, zoning, ensuring signs were correct.... how much better would member service be if THE BUYERS WERE DOING THEIR JOBS CORRECTLY.
Doing an audit in these areas is pointless. they're going to send regardless of what the on hands say.
I have been in some clubs that has freight piled up close to the freezer doors.
Associates can't work efficiently or safely like that.
How can club, market, or regional managers think that this is a proper way to operate? Why don't they ask corporate & buyers why this is an ongoing problem in nearly every club?
Because they scared to question anyone at home office. The buyers have made it so no one at store or club level can even email them. Once you've made it to corporate, you've gotten into the circle where everyone watches the other person's back to ensure that each person keeps getting richer.
F/C is like most jobs in Sam's, it's difficult because the unnecessary amount of freight that is forced out makes it that way. Most of the issues we run into in the stores is due to corporate refusing to do the right thing. Instead they're only interested in doing the right thing for themselves.
We have a huge issue with it. Everyone quits because of the two fresh managers. They run off most people in any department though.
